Why don’t this season’s best boots fit my calves?

Video shows another Telegraph reporter with 41cm calves, testing boots from the high street

There is a particularly glossy pair of boots for sale at COS this month – knee high, with an easy-to-wear 5cm heel, and available in tan or black leather. They would look brilliant with this season’s calf-hitting midi skirts, or with skinny denim tucked in, I’m sure of it.

But when I tried them on my legs, which typically wear trousers in a size 12 or 14, they didn’t fit. Such a new season must-have, are said boots, that a colleague of mine also bought and returned them. She too tried to yank them on to no avail, and even contemplated wearing them half-mast, like slouch boots, before realising what a terrible…
